It's official. After trying all night to revive her, she's done. RIP Dusty-ass PS3 (the picture highlighted the dust, its not actually that dusty looking). November-December 2013. Yes, I tried Playstation Support. They didn't help at all. All my precious GT6 Anniversary Edition data is gone now.

Have you tried DIY fixes? What are the symptoms?

I've tried as many as google provided me. What happened is GT6 froze Friday night and I had to hard reset the PS3. PS3s don't like that, but it needed to be done. Anyway it popped a little warning out about how I shouldn't do that, and it checked if data was corrupted. It wasn't, according to it. So yesterday, I boot up the PS3 in the morning and play some GT6. All is well until I have to go out and rake leaves. I just leave it running on GT6's menu because I expect to be back quickly. When I do get back, the PS3 is off. I boot it up and it says all my shit is corrupted, press X to restore. I do that. It's still corrupted. Do it again, no dice. Third time. Still corrupted. So then I do all the safe mode restorations and it's still dead...

This is making me worry about getting gt6, it seems to be happening to several people... Maybe the ps3 wasn't built to handle the game

Ouch. Since you have little to lose, can you backup your (corrupted?) data to an external hard drive, reformat the internal one and attempt a restore from the backup?

Possibly. That's what I'm thinking.

Sounds like the hard drive has taken a dump on you. Should be able to replace it.

Not so sure...the PS3 has no filesystem support for TRIM or any other SSD technology, so it would likely fail at a very early stage, similar to his current drive, but because of massive read/write access from games, updates, and just general use. SSDs are nice, but terrible in devices with no support for them.

New unit, re-use the harddrive and save your data?
